Customisation: Carrot Cake Version Revamped

yes the Carrot Cake has been revamped! : )

here’s a close-up of the bite-sized taster

and the real deal

ditched the caster sugar for quality soft dark brown sugar for a less saccharine kind of sweet

this gorgeous carrot cake is moist and packed generously with chopped walnuts, slivered almonds and sultanas, and carrots of course
the sultanas (may i quote) “packed a punch in the taste and gave the cake its personality”!

no marzipan carrots this time round; the cake was instead dressed simply in a luscious, smooth and lovely cream cheese frosting

this carrot cake is a real classic; perfect for a Sunday afternoon tea!
(or any time really, for that matter)

Customisation: Oatmeal Raisin Cookie

rolled oatmeals and raisins – your favourite breakfast cereal mix in a crisp cookie heap!

Customisation: Gingerballerinas

not quite so much the gingerbread man but more like a vanilla shortbread in the shape of a gingerbread woman decked in a (royal icing-ed and sugar crystal-ed) ballerina tutu skirt hahaha

happy christmas treats all packed and ready to go!

Flings and Treats: Bearllerina Cake

CHOCOLATE BANANA CAKE! CHOCOLATE! BANANA! CAKE!
how can i express my love for anything chocolate and banana enough

anyhow yes, this is actually a banana chocolate cake in disguise – moist and chocolate and banana
covered with a layer of blue marzipan (took a risk with this combination of marzipan and chocolate banana and it paid off! good stuff indeed)
and topped off with a border of silver dragee pearls and finally standing bears! hahaha wish i could have used bigger bears though (think teddy grahams)

got to try making this with a layer of chocolate ganache next time!

this is aptly named the Bearllerina Cake by the birthday recipient, who is coincidentally Cookiesheen’s Number One Customer
Happy Happy Bearthday! : )

Customisation: Blueberry Jam Cake

moist yellow butter layer cake with blueberry mousse in between (snuck in some chocolate chips as well yum)
and then spread with a generous serving of blueberry jam and rimmed with shaved white chocolate

as requested, the top was dotted with silver dragee pearls to paint an impression of a starry starry night (aww)

a very indulgent cake indeed! : ) only hope the jam wasn’t too sweet though

and i just have to confess that, the cake was uh, a little lopsided
as i trimmed it i failed to realise that one side (the height) was higher than the other!!! so it ended up like some sort of a slightly sloping cake. must have been blind, my apologies : (

but in any case i sincerely hope that the birthday recipient has enjoyed it! have a good one : )

Customisation: Alphabet Shortbread

a customisation shaped in Bs, Es, Gs and <3s
all topped with very pretty sprinkles!

i made the vanilla shortbread using a different recipe from the usual – it turned out all textured and crumbly and melty, though not as sweet as i would have liked it to be
but the royal icing balanced everything out! upon hardening it held the cookie together nicely and was really the icing off the… cookie : )
i had a lot of fun doing it! (only the cleaning up part was horrendous…)

and the cookies were finally packed in grubby brown packages (full of treasures okay)

in the meantime, here is a little surprise for all Glee fanatics out there (especially disney – i’m sorry the G broke so i couldn’t present you with these, but they were meant for you!)

GLEE!!!

Customisation: Strawberry Pie

did a customisation as requested in the shape of a Strawberry Pie

frankly, this looks a tad messy

but what you don’t see, are the very yummy digestive cracker crust (it’s just upsetting that after combing supermarkets islandwide there are no graham crackers to be found. WHY??? explain yourself, Cold Storage/NTUC/etc!) and the decadent paint of dark chocolate atop the pastry shell and then of course the sloshy strawberry filling

will work on tapering the sweetness to adequacy, and of course the aesthetic appeal…
but messy goodness is fingerlicking goodness right? ha ha

the dark chocolate and strawberry combination is good though – reminiscent of the classic chocolate-dipped strawberries!

many thanks to my friend bob for taking this picture : ) hope you guys had a very happy celebration!

Flings and Treats: Mini Key Lime Pies

the Mini Key Lime Pie in all its nakedness

and after the embellishment with indulgent whipping cream

this is my very first tryst with the Key Lime Pie, made mini ones just in case (so it would be easier to stomach ha ha)

it actually has an exciting taste!

although admittedly i probably got too excited while adding the lime rinds : (
while i love sour food it is probably too sour for the normal human tastebuds

still! as all things go
i’m looking forward to trying this again! zzzestful

Customisation: White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Customisation: Alphabetised Christmas Cookies

cute and fat alphabets W and J for my longstanding friends : )
